Tanja Winther is Professor at the University of Oslo (UiO), where she is currently head of the project Include – Research centre for a socially inclusive energy transition. Tanja specializes in Sustainable energy consumption and Gender relations, as well as Electrification, socio-technical and cultural aspects. On the latter subject, Tanja has authored the book The impact of electricity: Development, Desire and Dilemmas (2008).

At UiO, Tanja is also Board Member of UiO:Energy, a coordinating hub for energy research, focused on advancing new ways of using energy to reduce global climate change and environmental challenges. In addition, Tanja is member of the research group Sustainable consumption and energy equity at the Centre for Development and the Environment, which explores the social and political challenges associated with sustainable patterns of consumption and equitable solutions for energy provision and consumption. The objectives Tanja works with include energy equity, gendered implications of energy policy, access and use, and the relationship between energy- and climate policies, social conflict and minorities.
